Hotel boss owes $69m over property tied to Auckland bar murder

A hotelier and property magnate owes almost $70 million to lenders over a property that was the scene of a grisly murder, BusinessDesk reports.

IPG Securities director Sunil Govind Parbhu, also known as Dennis Parbhu, owes approximately $69.1m to creditors, according to the receiver’s reports.

Parbhu has a large portfolio of properties across Auckland and Wellington, including the SOHO Hotel in Mount Roskill.

IPG Securities owns 8178sq m of land on 211 Richardson Rd in Mt Roskill, the location of Richardson’s Bar and Restaurant.

The rating valuation of the land and property in May 2024 was $9.25m.

The bar became the scene of a murder when an Auckland man violently turned on his darts opponent on the night of August 31, 2023.

Receivers were appointed by Pallas Commercial Lending Limited pursuant to a General Security Agreement dated July 4, 2023.
