In this Herald on Sunday series, we ask well-known Aucklanders for their favourite spots in the city. This week, actor Jehangir Homavazir takes us on a tour of his top places.
Favourite beach?
Honestly, Bucklands Beach. It’s the local and it’s beautiful! You can also access Musick Point for some nice walks and views!
Brunch spot?
This is a tough one to be honest because I do have a soft spot for brunch! At this point, I would say anywhere with good coffee and a playground where my niece and my nephew can play.
Best restaurant for dinner with friends?
All the hard questions! I love food, and I love sharing it with my friends. Honestly, as long as the vibe is right, I don’t mind where we go.
The place to take a visitor to?
Hūnua Ranges. I love the trails there. Beautiful area for walks and to see nature!
Best spot to finish a night out?
Love a good falafel on chips after a night out. The hardest part is finding one open SUPER late!
Best coffee?
Right now, my go to’s have been Hancocks in Howick and Soul Cafe in Mānawa Bay. Good coffee and great service!
Favourite fish-and-chip shop?
I am a vegetarian, but the place my family and I go to most is just our local East Village Takeaway. Great chips and great chow mein!
Hiking trail?
The Hūnua Falls Lookout loop. Simple and a good view!
Venue for a gig?
Always enjoyed going to Spark Arena but the Powerstation also rocks! Bit more of an intimate vibe makes it a bit special as well.
Best spot for a bargain?
Got to be Mānawa Bay Outlet Centre. Heaps of good deals and a fun family-friendly place to chill.
