A popular YouTuber’s son has died at 14, months after being diagnosed with oral cancer.
Danny Go, whose real name is Daniel Coleman, posted on Instagram on Friday that his son, Isaac, had died.
“I already miss you so much, and the pain in my heart is far more than I can process,” Coleman wrote.
“Your 14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit.
“You somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all.”
Coleman said he was “really proud of his son” and would love him forever.
“Remembering how loved you were and how full of life your time here was gives me great comfort.”
In December, Coleman, who shares two sons, Isaac and 8-year-old Levi, with wife Mindy, revealed Isaac had stage three oral cancer.
In April, he said Isaac had been placed in hospice care as the family concentrated on ensuring his comfort and making the most of their time together.
Earlier, Coleman revealed Isaac had grown up with Fanconi anaemia, a condition that has a “high risk of early-onset cancers”, according to the Rare Disorders NZ website.
Coleman said in a post announcing Isaac’s diagnosis that cancer is “a near certainty w/Fanconi anaemia” so he and his wife “always knew this day was coming”.
“But it’s definitely hitting a little earlier than we hoped and is still just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you’ve braced for it for years,” he wrote.
Since its 2021 premiere, Danny Go’s YouTube channel has amassed more than 4.5 million members, with a Netflix show released last month.
The live-action series combines dance, music and imaginative activities with the goal of educating, exercising, and developing children’s social and emotional development.
