WASHED AWAY: About seven metres of road was washed away along East Cape Road towards the campgrounds. Picture supplied.
More mess but nothing major — that is what Anaura Bay residents woke up to this morning after the overnight rain.
Three weeks ago, the bay’s Hinetamatea Marae and urupa suffered damage from the severe weather event.
Residents were still cleaning up from that when yesterday’s storm hit.
“We got away with it,” said Linda Tatare. “That storm might have been windy and noisy but over quickly.”
The road was open to four-wheel drives, but they did not want visitors.
“(There’s) no further damage . . . we must have missed the worse of the rain. All surface flooding is gone.”
