Blockhouse Bay bus crash: Emergency services at Auckland intersection

NZ Herald

Emergency services were called to the Auckland suburb of Blockhouse Bay today after a bus collided with a pole.

A video shared with the Herald showed the bus at the intersection between New North Rd and Blockhouse Bay Rd, next to a downed traffic light.

The intersection was covered by shards of broken glass and mangled metal from the lights.

A fire engine was parked on the opposite side of the intersection as police pulled up to secure the crash site.

The person shooting the video exclaimed, “Oh my god, the window cracked”.

Police told the Herald emergency services were notified about 6.10pm of a collision where a bus hit a lamppost.

“Neither the driver nor the passengers on the bus appear to have been injured. Emergency services at the scene were managing traffic.”
