Motorway madness: Southern Motorway crash near Drury blocks lane and causes long delays

NZ Herald

Heavy congestion has built up nearly 10km on the Southern Motorway after a crash between a car and a truck.

The incident near Drury initially blocked both southbound lanes.

Police were called to the crash about 5.28pm, with emergency services attending to one person who had suffered minor injuries.

While one southbound lane has now been reopened, motorists are advised to expect delays and avoid the area until it has been cleared.

NZ Transport Agency has reported a road hazard before the Drury off-ramp, with the right southbound lane still blocked as queues build through the area.

Video from the scene shows significant traffic stretching back along the motorway, with heavy congestion reported as far back as Takanini.
