Person dies after medical emergency at Auckland’s Sylvia Park mall

A person has died after a medical event at Sylvia Park Shopping Centre.

A person has died after suffering a medical event at a busy Auckland shopping mall.

Kiwi Property, which owns and operates Sylvia Park Shopping Centre, confirmed the person died on Friday afternoon.

General manager of asset management Linda Trainer said mall staff and security teams provided first aid until emergency services arrived.

“Sadly, the person passed away,” she said.

Hato Hone St John said it responded to the scene at 2.41pm with an ambulance, two rapid response units and two operations managers.

Police said the death has been referred to the coroner.

Trainer said Kiwi Property’s thoughts were with the person’s whānau and loved ones, and support was being provided to those involved.
