A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run involving a child in Waikato.
The child, who was on a bicycle, was today still recovering in hospital.
A vehicle sped off without stopping after hitting the child on Torphin Crescent, Tokoroa about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
Police appealed for information from the public because of limited lines of inquiry, and Senior Sergeant Jason Henderson thanked the community for their help in tracking down the alleged offender.
“Tokoroa police executed a search warrant at a local address this afternoon,” Henderson said.
A vehicle was found and seized for examination, and a man was arrested.

“Thankfully, the child is also recovering in hospital,” Henderson said.
A 43-year-old man will appear in the Tokoroa District Court on April 30 to face driving charges.
Police do not believe anyone else is involved in the incident, but asked anyone who might have further information or witnessed the incident to contact them on 105 and use file number 260422/6148.
