Mt Wellington shooting: Armed police guard home after man suffers serious gunshot wound
A person has been seriously injured in a shooting at an Auckland property this morning, as armed police remain on guard at the scene.
Police are investigating after a man suffered what police say is a “serious gunshot wound” just after 6.30am.
He was found in a serious condition and taken to hospital.
Delays were earlier expected on Auckland’s Mt Wellington Highway as police responded, with armed officers stationed at the top of the driveway of the house where the person was harmed.
A police spokesperson said the incident was on Mt Wellington Highway, between Te Horeta Rd and Rowlands Ave.
Auckland City CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk said the public could expect an increased police presence in the area.
“At this stage the road remains open, however, motorists are advised to take alternative routes or expect delays.”
A witness heard sirens, and said a police helicopter was in the area.

A specialist in white protective gear could be seen walking around the property’s exterior.
Neighbour Jude Bastain told the Herald he had seen the police at the property before, most recently three weeks ago.

Hato Hone St John said one person was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
