NZ Herald

Firefighters were sent to the blaze just after 10pm.

A house fire in Northland is being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire in Opononi, on the southern shore of Hokianga Harbour, at 10.15pm last night.

They found the home well alight, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson said.

“They extinguished [the fire] and left the scene at 12.15am. It is being treated as suspicious and a fire investigator’s heading to the scene this morning.”

The spokesperson wouldn’t confirm if anyone was injured in the fire.
