Pedestrian critically injured after being struck by bus in Auckland

A person has been critically injured after being hit by a bus in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga.

Emergency services received reports of an incident involving a bus and a pedestrian shortly before 11.30am.

Police said the victim has been taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Church St was closed between Selwyn Ave and Upper Municipal Place, while emergency services attended.

The Serious Crash Unit was also due to examine the scene.

“Police advise the public to expect delays in the area and take an alternative route, if possible.”

Police remained on site just after 1pm.

Auckland Transport said just after 1.30pm that the crash site had been fully clear and that Church St was fully open again.
