One person has died after a truck and a car collided on State Highway 29 in the Kaimai Range.
Emergency services were called around 5.50am to the two-vehicle crash near the intersection with Valley View Rd.
Police said one person was found dead at the scene.
SH29 was closed while the serious crash unit examined the scene but has since reopened.
Fire and Emergency northern shift manager Paul Radden earlier said a car and a truck had crashed and two fire crews, from Greerton and Tauranga City, were attending.
Kaimai School
Kaimai School closed because of the crash.
In a post on its Facebook page, the school said: “Unfortunately due to the closure of SH 29, we’ve had to close the school today as staff are not being allowed through.
“Apologies for any inconvenience.”
