Sir Lewis Hamilton supported by Taika Waititi and Rita Ora at Monaco Grand Prix
New Zealand film-maker Taika Waititi has been spotted supporting Formula One legend Sir Lewis Hamilton at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The director of Hunt for the Wilderpeople and his wife, pop singer Rita Ora, visited the British racing legend in the Ferrari garage.
Hamilton, a long-time friend of Ora, finished second in a dramatic Monaco Grand Prix, and said it was “amazing” to have the support of girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
Finishing one place behind Kimi Antonelli on Monday (NZT) lifted the Ferrari driver into second place in the drivers’ championship. Kiwi ace Liam Lawson matched his career-best result with a fifth-place finish.
Waititi and Ora posed with for photos with Hamilton in footage posted on instagram by @scuderiaferrari.
The post read: “Love a husband and wife duo!”

In March, Waititi and Ora were seen at the season-opening Melbourne Grand Prix.
Kardashian has been criticised by F1 fans on social media for a “lack of class” after she awkwardly snubbed iconic broadcaster Martin Brundle during his regular grid walk.
During Brundle’s segment, which is broadcast live before each race, he approaches F1 figures and celebrities to ask their thoughts ahead of the race.
It was Kardashian’s first appearance at a grand prix since she and Hamilton started dating earlier this year.
Hamilton, still chasing his first win since joining Ferrari last year, finished six seconds behind Mercedes’ Antonelli. The Briton had picked up a five-second penalty for speeding in the pitlane.
The 41-year-old F1 legend shared the podium with two drivers – 19-year-old Antonelli and 21-year-old Isack Hadjar (Red Bull Racing) – whose combined ages are less than his own.
“It inspires me to level up,” he said, adding of going second in the championship, 66 points behind Antonelli: “I can’t believe I am second in the championship, and I am really happy and grateful and thankful for that and I couldn’t have done it without the team.”
